Is two weeks too old for newborn photos?

Photographing newborns typically takes place in the first 6 weeks since birth. The ideal time frame for newborn photos is within the first 10 days. In my experience as a New Hampshire newborn photographer is that babies sleep better between sets before the 10 day mark, making it a bit easier to capture all those adorable poses that make our hearts melt

Those of us who specialize in maternity and newborn photography understand that ideal sweet spots don't always work for our clients and that's O.K! The importance is capturing these beautiful baby bumps and baby portraits so you can preserve them for generations to come.

Booking a newborn session does not require you choose your session date. It is best to book your session prior to baby arriving to guarantee your photographer has an opening. This will allow you to choose a style and allow your photographer time to order any additional newborn props or maternity gowns for their client closet. At Vanessa Keo Photography located in Merrimack, New Hampshire clients call us when baby is born and we then schedule our session. Limited sessions are available monthly to guarantee our clients are scheduled within the first 3 weeks of birth.

With that being said, all babies are different! Some babies are sleepier than others, some would rather remain wrapped through the entire session and others are wide awake through most of the shoot. That is partly why newborn sessions cane take up to 4 hours. Soothing and getting baby to sleep peacefully is about 75% of the shoot in most instances. Our number one priority at Vanessa Keo Photography is that baby is safe feels comfortable.
