What to wear to your newborn photography photoshoot

Tips for parents and older siblings:

1. Wear clothes that don’t wrinkle easily. Picking up a toddler for a family shot or holding baby can lead to wrinkles.

2. Wear solid colors. To keep the attention on the baby, make sure to wear solids or small prints. This will allow your photos to remain timeless and avoid distractions from baby.

· Wear white/cream, black, neutrals or pastels. Avoid clothes with words or logos. (Save the “big brother” shirt for a sibling photo where we can do a quick change).

3. Dress for the warm studio. I keep the temperature around 75, but I also keep a heater blowing through the newborn session making the room closer to 80 regardless of the time of year.

4. Pack a change of clothes. If you want nude baby photos, I highly recommend bringing a change of clothes, these can get messy!

Tips For mom:

1. Wear something comfortable. Whether you wear a t-shirt, or a dress remember newborn sessions are mostly about cuddling baby and less about your outfit choice.

2. Avoid clothing that is extra loose. Although this clothing can hide your belly area, they tend to make you appear larger than you are.

3. Black is a great option if you’re not sure what to wear or if you’re worried about your post baby bump. Black is great at concealing that belly area.
